Due to the continued impact of COVID-19 on large events, The Damned Exhibition has been cancelled this year, to hopefully resume operations in 2021. For this year, however, The Damned has decided to put together a virtual retrospective of artists and performers who have participated in the event in the past.
The showcase will launch on 30 October and will stay up indefinitely.
Witchy Vibes, virtual art exhibition, running 2 October to 31 October, celebrating the various incarnations of the “witchy” aesthetic as presented by a collection of artists.
October is normally my busy month in normal years, but due to the pandemic I’ve got nothing going on this year, so I decided to get creative because I hate missing out on spooky season.
Since I have a ready-made platform at my disposal in the form of my website, I’m going to put together a virtual exhibition to help make Quarantober suck a little bit less. I will not be taking any submission fees or commission rates; all sales will be referred to the artists directly to make purchase arrangements. If you feel like rattling my paypal tip jar that would be fine, but I’m not requiring it.
Since October is right around the corner I figured I should probably just pull the trigger on this, but that only leaves me with a couple weeks to take submissions and then get everything reviewed and put together, which will be on display on the site through October 31st, with a tentative opening night on October 2nd.
THEME: Witchy Vibes
I’m going to leave the concept loose, but generally on the concept of the dark/spooky/spiritual side of femininity or witchcraft. Be creepy. Be flirty. Be ominous. All media welcome. I’m going to limit the event to 50 pieces and selections will be juried.
So please submit 1-4 images for consideration (max size 1000 px on longest side at 72 ppi). Please use the following information format for each piece:
Title:
Artist:
Website:
Media:
Size:
Year:
Price:
Contact info for purchase:
Include this info in an email to vholecek -at- schamballah.com and include “Witchy Vibes Submission” in the subject line. Following this format will save me time since I’m just going to be doing this free of charge.
Artists will retain all rights to their work, participation in this event simply grants me permission to host the images on my site for the duration of the event.

Quarantined? Coronafied? Yeah, we feel ya. In fact, artists are the self-proclaimed masters of social distancing, so maybe you need some helpful advice. We gotchoo. Your solution for going stir crazy is literally at your fingertips! Visualize this: A world where people exchange valuable dollars for handmade items from artists and craftsman! What a concept! Now, imagine being home enough to enjoy the art while artists are supported in continuing to create the work. We’ve got a winning combo!
The SituationThe art community is taking a hit. An absolute onslaught of art show, convention, and event cancellations, due to the COVID-19 crisis, have created an economic upheaval. These events are crucial for the way talented, passionate artists make their living, and there is a tremendous need for support in the artist community right now.
The Plan
We’re bringing the art directly to you! We are pooling talent from all over the globe, and at the beginning of April, we’ll post the artwork right here for you to browse through and purchase directly from the artists. And, on a daily basis, we will release artwork on our Facebook invite. You can help by sharing our links and spreading the word, just remember to keep a six foot distance.
This site and social media are run by a group of artist volunteers from the Drawing From Experience Creative Community on Facebook. We do not claim any liability for sales directly from artists and will not run sales through our site. We will connect you directly with the artists who made the item(s).

In light of the recent abuse of women's rights to privacy and reproductive choices, being forced down our throats here as well as AL, OH GA (and all that follow), I'm spearheading a fundraiser for the the local Planned Parenthood in Kansas City, MO. I'm.piased and not going to take this "laying down". So I'm working with amazing artists and makers that feel the same to bring in some truly rad items for a silent auction during our pre-party. Items include artwork, handmade bags, keychains, jewelry, salon services, bath products and gift certificates (more items being added daily). 100% of funds will be donated. Come get some great items for yourself and help raise funds for this vital organization!!
